This piece is was inspired by one of my favorite authors, Steven Rinella. His book “American Buffalo” was fantastic, and when doing one of my typical bullet flags I thought of the idea of incorporating the Buffalo, aka Bison, into one of my designs.
I cut the Cedar on a scroll saw and individually fit each piece with dowels, then it is stained. The “star field” or “Union” on the flag is done with spent bullet shells that are recessed into the wood. I finish it with several coats of spar varnish. Hanging hardware is included as seen.
Since 2016, Bison is the official mammal of the United States, and I believe this is an excellent tribute.
Due to the more detailed nature of this design, lead time is longer than my other designs. Thanks for your patience.
